Lipo / NiMh batteries

Batteries are used in all electro RC models. This is often a NiMH (nickel metal hydride) or lipo (lithium polymer) battery. Increasingly, lipo batteries are being used because they have a higher discharge rate and a more constant power output. This can result in higher speed in cars, for example. A lithium polymer battery is also lighter than a NiMH battery and is therefore almost always used in RC aircraft and RC helicopters.

Lipo charger or NiMH charger

If you are going to buy a battery charger you will find that there are several chargers available, in different price ranges. The price determines the number of functions of a charger. For example, often the inexpensive chargers cannot charge lipo batteries. A computer-controlled charger, identified by an LCD display, often have the most features. With these universal chargers you can charge almost all available batteries, at a high rate. This is popularly called a fast charger. There are even fast chargers available with touch controls! If you are going to buy a fast charger then we recommend that if you want to start using lipo batteries later, you buy a lipo fast charger right away. You will otherwise make a double purchase and that's a shame! Get advice from one of our specialists!
